TDP dalliance with Congress continues
The TDP double game is still on in both the new-born states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It still wants to follow its dubious policy of hunting with the hare and running with the hound.Despite all its perorations of anti-Congressism, it still continues its dalliance with the same party.
The TDP has joined hands with the Congress in the chairperson's election in various civic bodies in both the states. In Andhra Pradesh, where it is in power, it's aim appears to be to deny victory to the YSRCP. In the Telangana Legislative Council, it boycotted the council chairperson's election to bail out the Congress.
Even in the municipal chairperson elections in Telangana, the TDP supported the Congress and entered into seat-sharing agreements. As a result, the situation is wide open in Nellore, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar districts.
In a clear case of quid pro quo, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu himself announced that his party would give support to the Congress in Mahabubnagar and Warangal districts if the Congress supported them in Rangareddy district.
Chandrababu's action will only go to breathe life into an almost decimated Congress, opine analysts. They feel this will prove counter-productive for the TDP itself.
