TDP alienating land from the poor
Hyderabad: Criticising the TDP Government for initiating steps to alienate weaker sections from the assigned lands to benefit the creamy layer of the ruling party, YSR Congress has said it will be the voice of the marginalized sections of the society if such anti-people decisions are taken.
“There are about 2080 acres of assigned lands in and around the capital area region which is going into the hands of capitalists and in a bid to legalise the process, the state is proposing to regularize the ownership which goes against the spirit of the intended purpose”, party spokesperson Tammineni Sitaram told reporters here on Saturday.
“During elections, Chandrababu Naidu has promised to provide land and irrigation tools to the weaker sections but after assuming power he has been initiating steps to alienate land from the weaker sections with the proposal to amend the provisions of the Act, allowing transactions of assigned lands, which will pave way for the Chief Minister and his coterie to trade in real estate”, he said.
“Any Chief Minister would be proud to state the number of acres his government has disbursed but here is a Chandrababu Naidu who wants to take pride in snatching away land from dalits, adivasis and other weaker sections to benefit his favoured few.”
“Turning governance into a corporate house, like the East India Company, Chandrababu Naidu has floated ‘Eat India Company’ and his close associates are benefitting by the largesse of owning large extent of lands at throwaway prices”, he said.
“He has joined hands with corporate sector and had become a puppet in their hands and if the proposed amendment is carried out, about 7,000 acres of assigned lands will be traded by land sharks and the weaker sections will be deprived of their privilege.
“Chandrababu Naidu has already given away large extent of lands to Galla Jaidev, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s relative and others at Vizag, Tirupati and in Krishna district and this could be a prelude to what is in store.”
“We strongly oppose the proposed legislation and will be the voice of the downtrodden and will fight for social justice. It was YSR who had given pattaas to 20.3 lakh adivasis and distributed 20 lakh acres of land to dalits on the basis of Koneru Ranga Rao Committee report but now we have a chief minister who is leaving no stone unturned to snatch away the assigned lands from the intended beneficiaries”, he said.
