Tape Story: Chandrababu goes into huddle with top brass
There was stunned silence in the TDP camp after purported conversation between TDP chief and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and TRS MLA Stephenson came into the public domain.
Usually vociferous TDP leaders were conspicuously mum and let non-TDP man and CM's advisor Parakala Prabhakar to do defend Chandrababu Naidu.
Top brass in TDP government went into a tizzy and AP DGP JV Ramudu and other top mandarins were huddled with Chandrababu Naidu in an emergency meeting. Chandrababu earlier in the day, met Governor to apprise him of the situation arising out of the recent MLC elections. Moments after he met the governor the tapes was out.
The TDP is worried about the timing of the release of the tapes. It comes a day before Governor ESL Narasimhan leaves for New Delhi. He is likely to brief the Centre about the Cash for Vote scam. The tapes were out a day before the TDP is organising its Maha Sankalp Rally at the proposed AP Capital site.
In his defence, Parakala Prabhakar denied that the voice in the tape was that of Chandrababu. He sought to term this as an attack on the Andhra Pradesh and said the T government cannot snoop on neighbouring state's CM.
