Taoist Preacher Dies While Performing Human Steaming Stunt

A daredevil stunt turned to be fatal for a performer in Malaysia. The 68-year-old Taoist Lama, identified as Lim Ba (68), regularly performed the stunt of sitting on a bubbling hot container which is closed with a metal lid. The stunt, knows as human steaming, involves cooking food items even as the Lama sits on the container.

Lim performed the stunt to show his physical endurance to his followers. However, when he performed the show on Monday (October 23, 2017), something went wrong. The people heard banging noises from inside. they immediately opened and found that the Lima was in an unconscious state. He suffered a heart attack and also burns. He died while being rushed to the hospital.

Lim's son said they they advised him not to do the stunt, saying his father never paid heed. "He had a heart attack and he collapsed. He was knocking (on the lid), and the water from the container burned him," he said.

Lim underwent heart operation last year. The stunt was part of the Taoist "Nine Emperor Gods Festival".
