'T-state to be announced before Dussehra'
An announcement on a separate Telangana would certainly be made before Dussehra, the TRS supremo K. Chandra sekhara Rao said today.
KCR told TNGO and TJAC leaders that several important leaders at the Centre were already favourably disposed to the formation of a a separate state. He added that there were some issues to be settled such as the proposed capital for the new Seema-Andhra state and said that leaders from the region had certain doubts which needed to be allayed.
Once the announcement on Telangana would be made, the job of dispelling the fears of Seema-Andhra leaders and ensuring that they don't incite the people of the region has been entrusted to Union Minister of Health and in-charge, party affairs for the state, Ghulam Nabi Azad, he said. A number of TJAC and TNGO leaders met KCR at his farmhouse in Jagdevpur mandal in Medak district near the state capital and had elaborate talks with him. Some of the topics that came up for discussion included the talks he had in the national capital with central leaders and their outcome, Telangana March, the attitude of the TJAC Chairman Prof. Kodandram and future course of action, among other things.
KCR hinted that an all-party meet was likely to be held in the next two-three days and that discussions were in the final stages. He said that leaders including those representing employees would have to go Delhi in this regard. He pointed out that if the Central government had not got preoccupied with the crisis created by the Trinamool Congress, there would have been an announcement on the separate state by now. He added that the struggle for a separate state would be intensified in the interim, if there was no clear announcement on the subject.
The TRS chief expressed his displeasure at the utter absence of coordination between TJAC and the others, with respect to the Telangana March and questioned the timing of the mega March. According to him, though it was the TRS cadres which participated in large numbers in the March, their party leaders were not accorded the recognition due to them.
He said that while TRS workers and MLAs participated in huge numbers, they were not invited on to the dais and cited the names of some legislators to substantiate his point. The TRS chief said that leaders from relatively insignificant parties were accorded importance in the event. He questioned the unilateral manner in which Prof. Kodandram decided to go ahead with the march and wondered if the prestige of the event did not get dented by calling it off later. He said that such ill-conceived actions harmed the Telangana cause.
It is learnt that the TNGO and TJAC leaders who met KCR agreed with him and suggested that the movement should be taken forward from here unitedly without any hiccups and without repeating mistakes made earlier. The TRS chief also hinted that he would consider attending JAC meetings in future. Floor leader of the TRS in the assembly, E. Rajender, JAC convenor, Swamy Goud and others took part in this meeting, it is learnt.
