‘T’ may dominate Oct 26 PCC executive meet
The executive meeting of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) scheduled for October 26 is expected to be stormy with the presidents of all the district units of the Congress are likely to question the leadership on the ‘indifferent attitude’ of the seniors towards the grassroots level cadre.
As all the top leaders like Chief Minister N Kirankumar Reddy, Pradesh Congress Committee chief Botsa Satyanarayana and others are attending the meeting to be held at Gandhi Bhavan, the district level functionaries are of the firm opinion that it is the correct forum to air their grievances. Though the agenda sent for the meeting is to discuss the membership enrolment and other related matters, the district-level Congress leaders are sharpening their guns to fire at the State leadership in order to elicit a decision on crucial issues.
As sources in the party in Hyderabad today confirmed that leaders from Telangana region are appearing in large numbers, analysts feel that the prolonged tangle of statehood demand is likely to dominate the meeting. It is no surprise that the party will be divided on regional lines and the PCC executive, being held after a long gap, will turn out to be a platform for the unsavory development, sources in Hyderabad felt.
The State unit of the Congress is already a divided house. It is no secret that the party is split into groups owning allegiance to the Chief Minister and the PCC chief. There are even some other leaders who pamper the cadre to have their own say at for a like this, the sources observed.
Thus, the items on the agenda my take a back seat and the meeting may witness heated exchanges, which is common for the Congress. Perhaps apprehending such trouble, the leadership has already begun taking steps to discipline the partymen. But known for infighting and groupism, it remains to be seen how far the leaders at the helm wil be able to calm the agitating cadre, the sources maintained.
