'T' crisis: OU-JAC calls for bandh

Protesting against Union Minister Gulam Nabi Azad's statement that decision on the statehood issue was not possible by January 28, the Osmania University Students' Joint Action Committee has called for shut down of educational institutions in the Telangana region on Thursday.

Describing the Centre's statement as another ‘betrayal’, the TRS and TJAC have extended their support to the bandh call.

Heavy security forces have been deployed at the OU gate and barricades have been placed to prevent any untoward incidents on the campus. Security has been stepped up to maintain law and order situation in the city. Although majority of Andhraites are miffed with the Centre's decision to further dilly-dally the decision, bandh in some districts has only received lukewarm response.
