T activists damage property, director agrees to delete scenes

Taking strong objection to certain scenes and dialogues in the just released film “Cameraman Ganga tho Rambabau” activists of some Telangana organizations today created a ruckus near several cinema houses in the region, including the Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

At some places they forced the cinema houses managements to stop screening of the film. Strongly protesting against the ‘objectionable’ scenes and dialogues, they even burnt the boxes of the film.

Some persons, believed to be the students of Osmania University forcibly entered the Arathana theatre in Hyderabad and took away the reel box and later burnt them outside the theatre. Angry college students after watching the movie reportedly took to the roads and burnt the effigies of Tollywood hero Pawan Kalyan, who acted in the lead role in the film, and its director Puri Jagannath.

Shouting “Jai Telangana” slogans, a furious mob also attacked the office of Puri Jagannath in the posh Banjara Hills locality of the city. They are so enraged that some of the protestors damaged the fencing wall and threw the flower pots of the office to the ground. However, timely action by the police prevented further damage to the property. The police dispersed the agitating crowd and brought the situation under control.

What is significant is that Pawan Kalyan and its producer DVV Danayya are yet to react to the mob fury. But Puri Jagannath announced that he would delete the ‘objectionable’ portions from the movie.

“I directed the film with all good intentions and it was not my intention to target any person or section of people. In fact, the scenes, that are being objected to, are nowhere related to the Telangana movement,” he felt.

Even Producer Dilraju said "We  are willing to remove objectionable scenes or dialogues, if any, after showing it to TRS and Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) leaders. If they feel scenes and dialogues in the movie are objectionable, we will remove them with immediate effect."

While Telangana activists alleged that the movie has got the content against Telangana movement. They even threatened that the Telangana people would not allow the film to be screened until the scenes against Telangana were deleted.

In Warangal city, the heartland of Telangana, students from various educational institutions smashed the banners and cutouts of Pawan Kalyan. Similar incidents were reported from other parts of the region.
