Sushil terms Narsingh dope saga unfortunate
Wrestling icon Sushil Kumar on Monday called the Narsingh Yadav dope saga “unfortunate” and also said that he will always support fellow wrestlers.
The 26-year-old Narsingh on Sunday flunked a dope test after his ‘B’ sample tested positive for a banned substance, jeopardising his chances of competing in what will be his second Summer Games.
Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil, who had approached the court to persuade the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) to grant him a trial against Narsingh to determine India’s representation in the men’s 74 kg freestyle category in Rio, has been dragged in by allegations of having played a part in the episode.
“Very unfortunate 2 see the Wrestling go through this. I hv given my life to it & wl always support fellow wrestlers,” Sushil wrote on Twitter.
“It was my wish to extend my Olympics medal of tally of three. But now I have been away from Olympic preparations for a month. Now, I support my fellow wrestlers and I hope that they bring medals home.”
