Amaravati: The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh is leaving no stone unturned in curtailing the opposition party — YSR Congress Party from the winning the 2019 elections. Following the instructions from the TDP leadership, the names of as many as 14.77 lakh voters have been deleted from the electoral list in last one year, it is being reported. Interestingly, deleted voters are either YSRCP functionaries or supporters of Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly and YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

With a view of continuing in power even after 2019 elections, the TDP is making all out efforts to destroy democracy by grossly violating all the Constitutional norms.

According to a report, as many as 14.77 lakh voters’ names have been deleted in the state. All the voters who got deleted from the voters' list are said to be the supporters of the YSRCP.

The Election Commission of India has taken up revision of voters list from January 23 to February 14 in Andhra Pradesh. The EC eliminated the names of voters of those who have migrated to other place or region. And those who completed 18 years of age, also got their voter IDs and got enumerated in the list. Seeing this as an opportunity, the TDP leaders influenced and got the voters’ names of YSRCP supporters deleted in each and every village of the state.

The deletion of voters is on the higher side in YSR Kadapa district with 3.20 lakh voters’ names being removed from the list. As many as 10,000 to 15,000 voters in each Assembly constituency were deleted from the list. The experts opined that the migration of 14 lakh people to other region is highly impossible within a period of one year. The YSRCP MPs have taken up the issue of the voters' list discrepancies with the Election Commission of India, New Delhi.
