Stray incidents mar Formation Day fete

Barring some stray incidents in parts of Telangana, the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day passed off peacefully today.

Some incidents were reported from Warangal and Hyderabad city like students of Osmania University attempted to take out a march on the campus while Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA Vinay Bhasker hoisted a black flag in front of the Congress party office in Warangal.
The pro-Telangana organizations have given a call for observing the AP Formation Day as a day of betrayal following which the State Government has tightened security for the function held across the State, especially in Telangana region. Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) convener Kodandaram was confined to house arrest and additional forces were deployed on the Tank Bund in Hyderabad.
Osmania University campus was tense for sometime as the students tried to take out a march from the university campus to the NTR Stadium carrying black flags to observe November 1 as a betrayal day. As the way to the stadium was closed as a precautionary measure since Chief Minister N Kirankumar Reddy was attending the Formation Day celebrations, the protesting students entered into a heated argument with the police.
The students tried to remove the barricades and police swung into action and removed the protestors from the scene. The area was tense for sometime following the incident.
In Warangal city, TRS MLA Vinay Bhasker tried to hoist a black flag before the local Congress office. Police immediately took him into custody and later released him on producing a personal bond.
In Karimnagar, MLC Naradas was arrested along with followers when they tried to barge into the Police Parade Grounds where the Formation Day celebrations were in progress. Earlier, the agitators raised a black flag near the Telangana Martyrs Memorial.
