ICC World Cup 2019: South Africa Clear Favourites Against Bangladesh

South Africa face Bangladesh in their second match at the Oval on Sunday - Sakshi Post

London: South Africa are scheduled to play their second game of the tournament against Bangladesh, who begin their ICC World Cup 2019 campaign at The Oval on Sunday, 3:00 PM IST. While the Proteas were outclassed in the first game against the hosts with a 104-run loss to England, the Bangladesh team are also looking to perform better after their loss to India by 95 runs in their ICC World Cup warm up match.

South Africa led by Faf du Plessis, who is carrying good form from IPL 2019, is clearly the favourite side in team's second World Cup tie at the Oval against Bangladesh on Sunday. Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock beef up the top order while JP Duminy, Aiden Markram and David Miller lend depth to the middle order. Chris Morris, like Duminy, is a handy all-rounder. The Proteas need to iron out their battting wrinkles and get going. The South African team boasts of a powerful bowling line-up with pacers like Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi. Imran Tahir is a hard-to-read spinner and a match-winner on his day. It is not clear if Steyn would be fit to play in the Sunday match.

Bangladesh has its share of injury woes. The Bangladeshis are not the minnows they were once called and can run away with a match on their day.

In the ICC Cricket World Cup head-to-head record, South Africa lead Bangladesh by 2-1 in three matches. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have won two out of the last five games against South Africa.
