Hyderabad: Although known for his aggression on field, India team captain Virat Kohli is a friendly person off the field. He is pretty generous with his bats and has on many occasions given his bat to members from opponent teams, a characteristic which is appreciated in the cricket fraternity.

In 2016, the Indian skipper created a buzz when he handed his bat to Pakistan skipper Mohammad Amir during the World T20. Kohli also gave his bat to Afghan star and leg-spinner Rashid Khan but sadly, Khan could not retain the bat for far too long. Wondering, why so? Here’s your answer.

Speaking to cricket cricket.com.au ahead of Afghanistan's opening World Cup 2019 clash against defending champions Australia, Rashid said that he has a habit of preserving the bats which he gets from players.

When you are (learning) the skills of batting, you need to have a good bat. I got a few from the players. I got one from Virat (Kohli), I got from Davey (David Warner), I got one from KL Rahul and those are special bats. That will help me to make some runs in the World Cup," said Rashid Khan.

Khan says that 'there is something in the bat' that Kohli gifted and every ball he hit went for six. And then former captain Asghar Afghan comes and asks for the bat. And we all know how hard it is for us to say no to our bosses, right?

"When I was batting with the bat against Ireland, I flicked one for four - I wanted to hit a boundary and it went for six. I was like 'what happened? That went for six? I was like 'there is something in the bat'. I loved the bat. As soon as I came to the pavillion, our previous captain Asghar Afghan, he came up to me and said, 'give me that bat' and I was like 'oh no'.

"He had already taken it out from my bag and put it in his own bag. That was a special bat, from a special player as well. He took that bat and I hope he doesn't do well with that and gives it back," said a smiling Rashid Khan.

So the bat was stolen by none other than former Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan. Hopefully Khan gets his bat back.
