South Indian Cinema’s Biggest Blockbusters 2017: Mersal, Rajakumara, Baahubali 2, Ezra

For many of the stars, the year 2017 has been an eventful one because their movies have fetched good numbers at the box office. The movies of Prabhas, Chiranjeevi, Vijay, Jr.NTR, Ajith, Mammootty ruled this year's box office. They turned out to be highest grossers of 2017.

As we all know, Prabhas Baahubali is leading ahead of all the other movies.

Baahubali-The Conclusion: The movie has raked in Rs 1700 cr at the worldwide box office. This number is huge for south Indian films in terms of collections and the first part of the film had a great impact on the audience pushing them to watch the sequel to find answer to a simple question-Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?

Khaidi No.150: Khaidi No.150 was a comeback film for the megastar of Telugu cinema. Chiranjeevi came back after a decade but the movie proved how much the audience wants to watch his films. Movies of many other were released around the same time, yet the Chiru movie has become one of the the highest grossers of 2017.

Jai Lava Kusa: Jr.NTR is seen playing triple roles for the first ever time in his career which worked for the movie. The film collected INR 130 Crores.

Vivegam: It was directed by Siva and Ajith was seen playing an Armed forces officer. This was Ajith and Siva's third collaboration for a film after Veeram and Vedalam. Vivegam grossed an approximate amount of INR 95 crores worldwide.

Mersal: The film grabbed quite a bit of media and audience attention even before its release when the Censor Board objected to certain scenes. Vijay was seen playing three roles- doctor, villager and a magician which was a real feast to the audience. Mersal earned Rs 250 Cr and stands as the highest grosser in Vijay's career.

Ezra: The film was directed by Jay K and turned out to be one of the best films in Malayalam this year. The movie featured Prithviraj and managed to collect of INR 51 Crores at the box office.

The Great Father: It is a known fact that Mega Star Mammootty has a huge fan following in Kerala. This movie was most awaited and went on to clock INR 50 Crores.

Raajakumara:The film starred Puneeth Rajukumar and Priya Anand in the lead roles. Raajakumara had collected approximately INR 75 crores, highest for any film in Sandalwood so far.
