Snake Hatches 50 Eggs In Kothagudem, Unusual Incident Caught Attention Of Researchers
Chunchupally: In a rare incident, an Indian cobra laid as many as 50 eggs at one go. The incident occurred at Vidyanagar Colony in Chunchupally, Badhradri Kothagudem district in Telangana.
According to the forest officials, LIC employee G Rajarani, noticed a weird tapping sound inside her house on Sunday.
As she was searching the house, she was surprised to see a cobra laying eggs by hiding behind a sandbag in the corridor. She immediately called the Pranadhara Trust members. The snake and 50 eggs were rescued by the members and were handed over to Telangana forest department.
Usually, the breeding period of Indian cobras is from April to July. While female snakes usually lay 10 to 20 eggs, this snake at Rajarani's house laid 50 eggs catching attention of environmentalists and researchers.
