Snake gang case: Two officers suspended for laxity in probe
Two police officers attached to Pahadishareef police station here were on Thursday suspended for alleged negligence in the probe into the activities of `the snake gang' which was busted last month.
Cyberabad police commissioner C V Anand today ordered suspension of inspector Bhaskar Reddy and sub-inspector Veera Prasad, police sources said.
The gang had terrorised the residents of some areas in Old City for the past few months. The gang members allegedly used snakes to scare the women before sexually assaulting them. They were also involved in land grabbing, acting as arbitrator between disputing parties, etc, police have said.
Last month Pahadishareef police arrested seven members of the gang, including its leader Faisal Dayani, a gym instructor, in connection with gang-rape of an 18-year-old girl at a farmhouse in Shaheen Nagar here on July 31.
It was alleged that when the girl tried to lodge a complaint, police dithered.
Yesterday, five more members of the gang were arrested in a massive cordon-and-search operation in Shaheen Nagar.
