Slippers, stones hurled at Satrucharla's convoy

Tension gripped in Srikakulam district on Tuesday when a group of Samaikyandhra activists rained slippers and eggs on the convoy of Forests and Environment minister, Satrucharla Vijaya Rama Raju demanding that he quit his post to protest the state’s bifurcation.

Police personnel in large numbers, who escorted the Minister, immediately swung into action and prevented the protesters from marching ahead.

The attempt to block the minister's car was thwarted by the police and chased the protestors away.
