Sircilla Municipal Council Chairperson Resigns After Sparking Commission Controversy
Hyderabad: Sircilla municipal chairperson Samala Pavani resigned from her post after she triggered a row with her comments that the Sircilla councillors take commission from the contractors and even the higher-ups are aware of it. Incidentally, minister KT Rama Rao is the legislator of Sircilla.
Samala made these comments at a press meet on Saturday and brazenly spoke about councillors taking commission between 2 to 4 percent, a video of which is doing the rounds on social media. It is learnt that KTR is miffed with these remarks at the government, following which Samala quit citing personal reasons.
The video shows, Samala saying, "Getting a cut on all contacts is a common affair and happens across the state. If they pay us commission the work will be done smoothly. Even our ministers are aware of it.”
Samala later went on to justify the commissions taken, saying that, they have spent a huge amount during elections and later paid a visit to every ward so contactors should pay them and it shouldn’t be politicized.
