Shuttler Sindhu Tweets About Rude Behaviour of Indigo Staffer

India’s celebrated shuttler P.V. Sindhu took to Twitter to recount the alleged rude behaviour of an Indigo Airlines staffer. A member of the ground crew Ajeetesh, is reported to have been discourteous to the Olympic Silver medal-winner. Worse, when an air hostess colleague Ashima, asked him to “behave properly” (with Sindhu), he was rude to her as well, according to Sindhu.
Sindhu was boarding an Indigo flight from Hyderabad to Mumbai (6E 608) when the incident is reported to have taken place.

Reports say that the airline tried to downplay the incident in its statement claiming that its staff members were only carrying out their duty and following a policy they uniformly do for all passengers. They informed Sindhu that her oversized baggage, which would not fit into the overhead slot, would have to be moved to the cargo hold of the aircraft.

However, the champion shuttler’s father refuted the airline’s version. “It wasn't baggage but her kit bag which has been carried in every aircraft for the last 10 years,” said PV Ramana, the Olympic medallist’s father.

Meanwhile, President of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) Himanta Biswa Sarma, has said that the matter would be taken up with the ministry.
Reactions on Twitter were mixed in nature. Some tweeted criticising Sindhu for expecting VIP treatment, while many others panned the airline.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor showed his sympathy for the Olympic Silver medallist and claimed that he had stopped flying British Airways for similar reasons.
