She Missed Death By A Whisker

She missed death by a whisker, thanks to an alert train driver, who manage to halt the fast train just inches away from the woman. The incident happened at Charni Road station. The incident, captured on the mobile phones, has now gone viral on the social media.

The motorman, Santosh Kumar Gautam, whose alertness saved the day for the woman, would be felicitated by the Western Railway authorities.

On December 6, a rag picker, walking along the tracks, did not realise that a train was coming her way. The motorman saw her after he started off from Grant Road Railway Station. He reduced the speed and began honking the horn. The woman realised only very late and tried to climb up the platform, which was quite high. He managed to halt it barely inches before touching her.

After the train halted, Gautam jumped off his cabin and with the help of some passengers, managed to pull her onto the platform. After the dazed woman was calmed, he began his journey towards Church Gate, the last destination of the service.

The incident, captured on the cellphones has gone viral and the railway authorities have now decided to felicitate the driver.
