Sharmila adheres to election code, says 'no' to people
YSR Congress Party president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's sister Sharmila got a two-day break from her 'Maro Praja Prastanam' padayatra in the wake of the MLC elections in Nalgonda district.
Sharmila is resting in a tent on the outskirts of Vadapalli in the district. Sharmila has neither stepped out from her tent nor met anyone, strictly adhering to the election regulations.
As soon as news spread that Rajanna's daughter Sharmila was camping near their village, over 300 people from Vadapalli and Damaracharla thronged the place in the hope of meeting her. But Sharmila was forced to deny an audience as meeting people is banned during elections.
Her security staff too made every effort to keep the large number of female workers from nearby factories away so as to not violate the election code.
As the election code isn't applicable to family members, Sharmila's son and daughter met her and she stayed with them in the tent. YSRCP honorary president, YS Vijayamma too met Sharmila yesterday.
YSRCP programme coordinator, Talasila Raghuram announced that Sharmila would resume her walkathon on February 22.
