Shanti Srihari Says She Got Addicted To Drugs After Husband’s Death 

Shanti Srihari, wife of the demised real star Srihari, has said that she got addicted to drugs after her husband's death and spent years without food. In an interview to a local newspaper, Shanti revealed that she took solace in drugs as the grief caused by Srihari's untimely death was beyond her capacity to cope with.

"Ever since our marriage, Baava (Srihari) had been my life. I lived each moment for him. He was so dear to me and he loved me with same kind of affection. His untimely death was a shock to me and I took to drugs," Shanti said.

An actress herself, Shanti was once known as Disco Shanti as she did mainly dancer roles.

"Finally, when my son had to shift me to hospital on his shoulders, I realized my mistake and decided to live a clean and healthy life - all for the sake of my children. What will be their fate if I too die like their father? I should not make them orphans," she said. Now she is completely cured of drug addiction and leading a normal life.

However, I am still scared of death. I paid the entire three-year college fee for my son because his studies should not be disturbed if something happens to me, she says.

Shanti is now undertaking some social service activities under Akshaya Trust which was established by Srihari when their four-month-old daughter died. Srihari died on October 9, 2013 after a prolonged liver disease.
