Shankar Rao lays foundation stone for Sonia Temple

On december 9, Sonia's birthday, he laid the foundation stone for the temple.
He used the occasion to attack his detractors saying that Seemandhra leaders burnt her effigies, destroyed posters of her and even constructed a tomb for her, but Telangana leaders will construct temples. The land for the temple came from his own nine acres of property at Nandigama in Kotturu mandal. (Read here)
Further, on her birthday, Rao even decided to construct a 35 feet statue.
But BJP party activists opposed Shanakar Rao's decision. They pointed out that due to the delay in Telangana announcement, many youngsters committed suicide and they also warned that once constructed, they will demolish the temple.
