Separate High Courts To Be Set Up For AP, Telangana Before June 2

Hyderabad High Court is now serving both AP and Telangana - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Centre on Tuesday agreed to set up separate High Courts for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh dividing the existing Hyderabad High Court within six months from now.

It may be recalled that the TRS MPs had staged a protest on the floor of Lok Sabha last week demanding the separation of High Court as promulgated in the AP Reorganization Act 2014. The lawyers and judges belonging to Telangana had also been demanding an early solution to the issue which was pending since the formation of Telangana State on June 2, 2014.

The erstwhile Andhra Pradesh High Court has been serving both the states with its name changed as Hyderabad High Court.

Responding to the demands, the Union Law Ministry announced that the separation of High Court and setting up of separate High Courts for both the states under the AP Reorganization Act, 2014 will be completed before June 2 this year.

An official notification to this effect will be issued by the President of India in couple of days, sources said. The Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court will take steps for setting up of two High Courts.
