Seemandhra Cong leaders plan meeting to chart future course
Hyderabad, Congress leaders from the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseemna regions have said they would soon hold a comprehensive meeting to chalk out the future course of action against the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
We will hold a meeting of Congress MLAs, MLCs and other public representatives soon to decide our next course of action in support of united Andhra Pradesh, state Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath, leader of the Seemandhra Congress MLAs and MLCs, told reporters here. He was speaking after a meeting this evening of state ministers from the Seemandhra region. With reports of some ministers from Seemandhra facing the ire of united Andhra supporters, he stressed that the leaders had long been vocal in highlighting the unity of the state. Sailajanath said Telugu Desam Party had not changed its stance and had not come out in support of united Andhra despite the large-scale agitations in Seemandhra region. He further alleged that YSR Congress Party of jailed Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy had thrice changed its stance on the division of the state. Meanwhile, pro-united Andhra employees of various state government departments have announced a plan to organise agitations this month. The employees will hold protests at Central government offices and organise shutdowns in Seemandhra region. Numerous agitations continued across Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema today against the proposed division of the state.
