School Sweeper Molests Six-Year-Old
New Delhi: A school sweeper was arrested for allegedly molesting a class I student of Sant Nirankari School in Malviya Nagar, on Wednesday.
The sweeper identified as 22-year-old Rajesh was arrested by the Delhi Police. The incident reportedly took place inside the premises during school hours, after the victim informed her parents about the misbehaviour with her at the school. The student went to washroom and called for the female attendant, who was not present there. The accused Rakesh, however, heard her and went inside the washroom.
The police were informed about the incident by a PCR call. Upon investigation, the police managed to trace the accused. Rakesh, a resident of Dakshina Puri, was identified by the victim. The accused was arrested under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and 376 IPC acts.
The incident has occurred close on the heels of Ryan International murder. On September 8, seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur - a class two student of Gurgaon's Ryan International School - was found dead in the school toilet with his throat slit. The murder had triggered a nationwide outrage, prompting the government to order more security and facilities in the schools around the national capital region.
