SC verdict on Babli project shocks AP Govt

The State Government has received a shock as the Supreme Court on Thursday delivered its verdict on the controversial Babli project being constructed across Godavari river on Andhra-Maharshtra border that it should not be demolished totally as wished by AP and accorded permission for Maharashtra to go ahead with the project.

The three-member bench of the Apex Court directed Maharashtra Govt to use only 2.47 tmc of water from the dam and the remaining water for Andhra Pradesh.

The Court also advised for appointment of a three-member committee for sharing of water and accordingly construction of the project.

The court also suggested three members one each from AP and Maharashtra and the third member from the Centre to mediate.
