SC dismisses plea to strip Rosaiah of Guv post - Sakshi Post

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a PIL seeking its direction for the removal of K Rosaiah as Tamil Nadu governor on the ground that a criminal case has been filed against him in Andhra Pradesh.

A bench headed by justice A K Patnaik refused to entertain the PIL, saying there has been no violation of the Fundamental Rights of the petitioner to file the petition and the criminal case was registered after he was appointed as governor in August 31, 2011.

The petition in the apex court was filed by an advocate Mohan Lal. Earlier Lal had filed a case against the Tamil Nadu governor in an anti-corruption bureau court in Andhra Pradesh alleging that during his tenure as chief minister, Rosaiah had approved denotification of prime government land in favour of some private parties and caused a loss of Rs 200 crore to the state exchequer.

The ACB court had on June 18 this year asked Rosaiah to appear before it on August 2, but the same was stayed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court on June 30.
