SC asks Mohan Babu to file an affidavit in Padma Shri case
The Supreme Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of actor Mohan Babu's petition challenging HC's orders to return his Padma Shri award, to to April 17.
The court asked the veteran actor to file an affidavit and remove the title from wherever he has used it.
Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam approached Supreme Court on the ruling of High Court which directed the duo to return their Padma Shri Awards, after it came to light that the actors were misusing the titles.
The actors filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme court challenging HC's orders stating that they have never intentionally misused the awards conferred on them by the Government of India.
Reportedly, they have mentioned in the petition that they asked the producers of 'Denikina Ready' to delete prefixes from the titles the day it came to the court's notice.
Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam were awarded the title in 2007 and 2009, respectively. The controversy erupted when the recipients carried the title of 'Padma Shri' as prefix in the credits of the controversial film 'Denikina Ready'.
Alleging that both the senior actor and comedian used 'Padma Shri' in the titles of the film, BJP senior leader N Indraseena Reddy urged the court to take back their awards for violating the Supreme Court judgement.
