Sakshi organises debate on Eamcet counselling fiasco
Sakshi TV on Monday organised a unique debate on the Eamcet admission and counselling fiasco. The interactive programme has several students and parents talking to academicians and experts on why is the second round of counselling cancelled and who is to blame for the fiasco.
While Sakshi group's editorial director K Ramachandra Murthy presided over, news anchor Sriram coordinated. Similar debate would be held in Vizag on Tuesday.
Here are the excerpts from the experts who spoke during the debate:
Only 50 colleges have the needed infrastructure
At least 30000 students have dropped out of engineering courses. There are lot of engineering colleges where even basic facilities are lacking. Only 50 engineering colleges can be really called engineering colleges

The blame lies on the Universities
I would blame the universities for the whole problem. They have forefeited the responsibility of engineering admissions to the government. It should have been the job of universities and their vice-chancellors.

Educationist
AICTE announcement was ill-timed
The whole confusion has come only because of the the AICTE has pronounced several colleges as not having the basic infrastructure during the counselling. This has affected the admissions. In fact, the AICTE should have done this much in advance to enable the institutions to take up corrective measures.
