Sadhvi Arrested In Cheating Case Found In Possession Of Rs1.25 Crore Cash, 2.4Kg Gold
Ahmedabad: In a case of cheating police arrested a woman named Sadhvi Jayshree Giri on Thursday who is said to be a spiritual preacher. Police swung into action and recovered Rs 1.25 crore cash and 2.4 kg gold from her house. Police raided Sadhvi’s house after a local jeweler complained against fraud by her in gold purchase transaction after demonetization in November last.
"During our raid in Palanpur, we have recovered Rs1.25 crore in cash, which was in Rs2,000 notes, and 24 gold bars, each of 100 grams. Sadhvi was also present at her house during the raid. We have arrested her in a case of cheating and seized the cash and 2.4kg gold," Banaskantha SP Niraj Badgujar.
We will inform the Income Tax department to conduct further probe about the source of the cash and gold recovered from her
A jeweler identified as Pritesh Shah filed a complaint against Sadhvi saying that she had taken Rs 5 crore from him by promising to give him gold at a cheaper rate. However, he realized that he was cheated and then lodged a complaint.
"We raided her house and recovered cash and gold from Sadhvi, who was arrested from the spot. We will inform the Income Tax department to conduct further probe about the source of the cash and gold recovered from her," SP added.
