Rushikonda incident: Sai Nitin's body found

The body of Sai Nitin, one of the six engineering students who drowned at the Rushikonda beach was found on Thursday night. Reports said that the high tide washed ashore the body of Sai Nitin around midnight.

Authorities have made arrangements to send the body of the victim to Hyderabad. Earlier on Wednesday, the bodies of five other students of Gitam university who had drowned were retrieved by the police. It was a joint operation from morning till late into the evening by the Navy, Coast guard and the marine police of Visakhapatnam to search for the missing bodies. Two choppers, two boats and around eight swimmers were deployed for the rescue operation, it is said.
Post incident, the site has been put on cover and warning boards have been put up to prevent any such untoward incidents. The police has also instructed Gitam university to ensure preventive measures, such as conducting awareness programmes among students to avoid such incidents in future.
