Rs 754 Cr surcharge burden on AP power consumers

The Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) of Andhra Pradesh gave green signal to Power distribution corporations allowing them to levy suel surcharge adjustment (FSA) on the power consumers for the third quarter in the year 2012-13.

The Discoms are allowed to charge surcharge of Rs 754 Crore for the period between April and June, for the power consumed during July to September, 2012. The 70-page order of the ERC directed the Discoms to collect the surcharge on all consumers, except LT agriculture consumers, as 62 paise per unit of power. The Discoms had requested to allow them to colelct FSA of Rs 986 Crore on 11,922.71 million units of power. However, the Commissioner agreed for Rs 754 Crore on 12134.42 million units.
