Roll back bus fares: YSRCP
Terming as total success the dharna against the hike in bus fare, the YSR Congress has demanded tha tthe State Government roll back bus fare hike.
The dharna organised by the YSRCP at all bus stations in Andhra Pradesh evoked unstinted support from all sections.
The dharna at RTC bus depots across the state by YSR Congress has received full support from the youth, student wings and social organistaions and it is time for the TDP government to roll back the increased bus charges," party spokesperson Tammineni Sitaram told reporters on Monday.
Though the cabinet sub-committee, officials and others had suggested not to increase the bus fare and contended that steps should be taken to curtail the losses, the Chief Minister has gone ahead with the hike which is very burdensome to the common man.
‘Chandrababu Naidu has assured the people during a public meeting at Kakinada, as part of electioneering, that there would be no taxes and no hike in charges in the next five years if TDP is voted to power. He has gone back on his word on many counts.
The mechanism evolved by TDP to increase the bus fares even as the price of crude oil has fallen drastically worldwide is beyond any reasonable comprehension, he said. It was only YSR who had kept his word and did not increase any taxes or fares during his five year term, he said.
