Retired IAS Officer’s Son Booked For Cheating IOB Of Rs70 Lakh

Hyderabad: Kare Vijay Suryateja, son of retired IAS officer Kare Sai Bhasker, was booked along with an accomplice by Jubilee Hills police on Sunday for duping a bank to the tune of Rs 70 lakh. The accused are absconding after taking a car loan.

Indian Overseas Bank's general manager lodged a complaint against Suryateja and his accomplice Md Azhar Hussain for cheating the bank in the name of a car loan. The official said that the bank sanctioned a loan of Rs70 lakh to purchase a sports car - Land Rover Discovery.

Suryateja was involved in few other cases earlier too. He was detained in 2015 under the PD Act and came out of jail in 2016

"After the vehicle was purchased, he submitted copies of the temporary registration certificate, proforma invoice and insurance cover note. But he never submitted the original registration certificate even after the temporary registration expired in March," IOB official said. The accused didn’t even pay installments of the loan.

As the bank officials realized that they were cheated, they issued notices at his home. However, they returned as the accused's house was locked following which they approached the police. The police booked a case against his firm Surya Commercials and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconder. Suryateja was involved in few other cases earlier too. He was detained in 2015 under the PD Act and came out of jail in 2016.
