Kurnool: Sri Raghavendra Temple in Mantralayam had an unexpected guest on Friday when a a snake slipped into the temple premises and scaring away the devotees.
The reptile then slithered into the hundi and disappeared. The security personal at the temple stopped the VIP darshan for a while and tried to lure the snake off the hundi but of no avail.
Mantralayam lies on the banks of the Tungabhadra river on the border with neighbouring Karnataka state. It is also called as Manchale. This town is noted for the holy presence of the Vrindavana (sacred burial) of Guru Raghavendra Swami, a Madhwa saint and follower of Sri Madhwacharya. Manchalamma is the presiding deity of the Manchale village and one has to offer prayers to Manchalamma first, before they enter Sri Raghavendra Swamiji's mutt to get his blessings.
