Renuka blames seniors for Congress debacle

Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury said the party's rout in the just-concluded elections was due to the failures of the senior leadership.

Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad on Monday, she said, “We could not capitalize on the fact that it was the Congress that enabled the formation of Telangana. I apologise to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for the defeat of the party in Telangana.”

“Current setbacks are at best temporary. We will come back again,” said Renuka. She said the foundations of the party are still strong.

She blamed the leaders for not campaigning well at the grassroot level in the recent elections.

“Some senior leaders spent their time day-dreaming. Rampant groupism too played spoilsport,” admitted Renuka.
