Relief For AP As RBI Supplies Rs 100 And Rs 2000 Notes

The new consignment of Rs 2,000 crore is expected to bring respite to the people of AP. - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: In a major relief to the citizens of Andhra Pradesh, the Reserve of India (RBI) dispatched Rs 2,000 crore worth new currency notes to the state.

While Rs 400 crore of the new consignment is in the denomination of Rs 100 notes, the rest Rs 1,600 crore is in Rs 2,000 notes. Though the new consignment is set to bring some respite to the cash-starved citizens, it may not reduce the waiting time at the ATMs. Banking officials say that the newly introduced Rs 500 currency note is not in the new consignment and also not scheduled to arrive anytime in the near future. This may cause inconvenience to small traders and the common man in the short-term, they said.

After ATMs, banks and post offices have also started displaying 'no cash' boards. Severe cash crunch has resulted in increasing queue lines at the banks in the state. However, in this situation the RBI announcement of Rs 2,000 crore worth of currency dispatch is expected to reduce the queue lines to some extent.
