Red sanders worth 1 crore seized

The police today seized a lorry laden with red sanders on the Chittoor-Bangalore highway.

The seized logs were estimated worth around Rs 1 crore. Despite the stringent measures such as setting up of check posts on the national highway, the smugglers were able to transport the logs. When the police tried to intercept the lorry, the driver ran away leaving 84 red sander logs weighing 4 tonnes.
