Rayalaseema Bandh: Several Left Leaders Arrested
Anantapur: The Rayalaseema bandh call given by the Left parties on Wednesday protesting against the state government's failure to tackle drought, is being observed by and large peacefully.
Activists of the CPI, CPM and other trade unions staged protests at the RTC bus depots in all the four Rayalaseema districts. At a few places, AISF activists pelted stones on APSRTC buses at Yemmiganur. They were immediately arrested. Vehicular traffic was disrupted on the Hyderabad-bengaluru national highway near Tadakaleru in Anantapur district due to a rasta roko.
The police arrested CPI leaders and workers when they staged a sit-in on the road at Badvel Circle in YSR Kadapa district. The protesters alleged that the TDP Government has failed to put in place concrete measures to fight the drought. In Tirupati too, Left Party activits were arrested for staging protest.
