Rash-driving girl rams into bikes, 3 killed

In a shocking incident, three engineering students were killed and six others were injured when a rash-driving lady rammed her car to their bikes near highway in Harinathapuram area in Nellore district on Sunday night.

While one student died on the spot, 2 others died in hospital fighting for their lives on Monday.

Sharon Priyanka, the Nellore girl whose rash driving caused the tragedy, fled  from the accident spot, but was arrested on Monday evening.

Priyanka, 25, a physiotherapy student, purchased a second-hand Ford Figo recently went for a long-drive with her friends Vineela and Vineetha.

In a vain bid to show off her driving skills, she lost control, rammed into a divider and mowed down two motor vehicles coming from the opposite direction.

The car hit as many as four vehicles before  coming to a halt. Nine people, including four engineering graduates, suffered grievous injuries. Priyanka's friends too suffered minor injuries.

While Polireddy Venkatesh died on the spot, Vijay Kumar and Karthik died in hospital on Monday. It is been learnt that four engineering graduated were on their way to beach to celebrate Friendship day.

Police sent Priyanka for medical examination to ascertain if she was drunk at the time of driving.
