Ramakotaiah writes to EC to derecognize TDP
An MLA who got elected on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket today appealed to the Election Commission of India to derecognize the TDP as a political party.
Chinnam Ramakotaiah, the MLA, wrote a letter to the Election Commission in which he said that TDP president Chandrababu Naidu does not have faith in the Indian Constitution and thus the recognition of the party should be cancelled.
Ramakotaiah said that he was suspended from the party for exercising his franchise in the last Presidential poll. He was later suspended from the party for anti-party activities.
“For exercising my constitutional right I was suspended from the party, which is unconstitutional. Naidu does not have faith in the statute. So, the party can no longer enjoy the status of a recognized political outfit,” the suspended MLA said in his letter and appealed to the Election Commission to immediately initiate steps to derecognize the TDP, headed by Naidu.
