Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi statues set ablaze in Ananthapuram
Congress' decision on Telangana might have satisfied the pro-Telangana activists. However, the landmark decision has not impressed Samaikyandhra people one bit. In fact they are so irked by the Congress leaders' decision to divide the state, that they have gone on a rampage creating havoc to vent their anger and disapproval over the decision.

Despite police presence, scores of protestors vandalized statues of former Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi at Saptagiri centre
They set both the statues on fire. The statues were completely damaged in the attack, sources say. It is learnt that some protesters also hammered the statue and threw slippers at them. It is learnt that the presence of the Congress rulers' statues added fuel to fire.
Effigies of AICC president Sonia Gandhi were burnt. The protestors also tried to set the Congress party office on fire, but the police foiled their attempt. Police resorted to lathicharge several times but in vain.
