Rain Fails To Dampen The Spirit Of Women To Celebrate ‘Saddula Bathukamma’

Rain played spoil sport as thousands of women gathered at the LB stadium to attempt to create a new Guinness Record during ‘Saddula Bathukamma’. - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Heavy rains that lashed the city on Thursday evening showed little impact on the ongoing 'Saddula Bathukamma' celebrations at the LB stadium. More than 3,000 women, clad in yellow and light blue coloured sarees, formed the shape of Thangedu flower earlier during the day. Thangedu flower is Telangana's state flower.

Following the Bathukamma celebrations traffic restrictions were imposed in parts of the city from 4 pm to 11 pm.

It may be recalled that Telangana state festival 'Bathukamma' had entered into the Guinness Book of Records for the participation of 9,292 women who danced around Bathukamma (flowere stack) in unison last year at LB stadium. The feat was achieved despite inclement weather.

Guinness Record Attempt

Rain played spoil sport as thousands of women gathered at the LB stadium to attempt to create a new Guinness Record during 'Saddula Bathukamma'. According to Burra Venkatesham, only the attempt has failed. The organisers will try and make another attempt at the record in November, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Guinness Records official Swapnil said that the attempt has been disqualified and wished the organisers and participants better luck next time.
