Public Unrest in Dachepalli Demanding Arrest Of Rickshaw Puller

A rickshaw puller in Dachepally near Guntur district molested a nine-year-old girl after luring her with chocolates.

After word spread that the culprit had gone missing, there was a huge public outcry in Dachepalli. Residents resorted to burning of tyres and held a rasta roko on the Addanki-Narketpally highway demanding immediate arrest of the rickshaw puller. This led to traffic congestion for up to 15 kms.

The victim is now being treated at a nearby hospital in the region where her condition is said to be critical. Demanding stern action against the old man (rickshaw puller Subbaiah), scores of people thronged police station and even set a deadline for the arrest of the culprit.

The unrest which broke out last night lasted till early hours of the morning. The residents even called for a shut down of Dachepally to protest against the rape incident. Tense moments prevailed as clashes triggered a riot-like situation in the area. The culprit has been identified as Subbaiah.

The culprit is believed to have threatened the victim to kill her if she revealed the act to anybody.
