Vijayawada: The leaders of CPI(M) staged a protest before Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) office here on Tuesday demanding that a sitting judge should be appointed to carry out judicial inquiry into the alleged land scam in Amaravati.

The party's capital region committee convenor Ch Babu Rao demanded that an inquiry should be ordered into the land transaction that have taken place in and around Amaravati capital region.

As many as Rs 2,000 crores of public money were siphoned off by the CRDA officials due to the real estate boom in the capital city, he alleged. Accusing that the TDP leaders were involved in the scam, Babu said that there was no transparency in the functioning of the CRDA.
