University principal suspended for student’s death - Sakshi Post

Guntur: The AP State Council of Higher Education has responded to the death of the first year architecture student Rishikeshwari of Acharya Nagarjuna University.  The principal of the college, Babu Rao was suspended by Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education here on Thursday. The state police decided to probe further into the matter.

However, reports say that clashes broke out in the ANU campus after pro and anti-principal groups clashed. The pro-principal group attacked student union leaders, who were demanding his suspension.

The architecture student, Rishikeshwari hanged self from a ceiling fan in her hostel room on the 14th of this month. It was initially thought that ragging was the reason behind the suicide. The real reason behind the suicide came into light later when the police began the probe. Rishikeshwari was made to walk half-naked in the hostel corridors by her seniors. It was filmed and circulated. Rishikeshwari was shattered upon seeing the videos and ended up committing suicide.

State higher Education Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao ordered the Higher Education Council and the police to take the issue more seriously.
