Press Council sends notices to AP Govt, DGP

Taking a serious view of the police high-handedness on the reporters and correspondents of Sakshi daily for  their investigative stories on the land scam in the AP Capital area, the Press Council has sent notices to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the director general of police and the Superintendent of Police of Guntur district.

On Wednesday, the Press Council found fault with the police calling the Sakshi corespondents to the police station. It took up the case suo motu and said such acts of the police were violative of the press freedom.
