President, Vice President Greet Nation On Milad-un-Nabi

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari on Sunday greeted the nation on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, which is being observed on December 12 this year.

The Prophet's birthday falls on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal. "On the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of the Holy Prophet, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all my fellow countrymen, in India and abroad. May the message of the Holy Prophet inspire us to work towards universal brotherhood, compassion, tolerance and the well-being of all. Let's recall the life and ideals of Hazrat Mohammed Saheb and re-dedicate ourselves to the service of humanity," Mukherjee said in his message.

Ansari said that Prophet Mohammed showed humanity the righteous path of compassion and universal brotherhood. "I convey my warm greetings and best wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. The Holy Prophet showed humanity the righteous path of compassion and universal brotherhood. May His eternal message continue to guide us in building a peaceful and harmonious society," he said in his message.
