Praja Sankalpa Yatra: Farmers Plight Highlighted To YS Jagan At Y Koduru
Jammalamadugu: Leader of Opposition in the AP Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy interacted with farmers at Y Koduru and got first hand information about their plight.
The YSRCP chief reached Y Koduru in Jammalamadugu as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, on Thursday. The ryots told YS Jagan that they did not receive minimum support price from the state government for their produce - Bengal gram and black gram. "Last year the price for lentils was Rs 13,700 while this year the government has given only Rs 3,700. Also coriander price fell to Rs 1,800 from a high of Rs 4,000 last year," the farmers to YSRCP president YS Jagan.
Addressing the gathering, YS Jagan said that the state government is purchasing the produce from farmers at throwaway prices and selling the same at exorbitant prices through its Heritage outlets. The state government is in collusion with middlemen and agents to jack up the prices, thereby giving a raw deal to the farmers, he said. "In the next elections, the YSRCP will announce a minimum price for all the crops. It will ensure that the farmers do not have to sell their crops below the minimum price," he said. The party chief also highlighted the failure of the Chandrababu Naidu government wherein it announced a Rs 5,000 crore price stabilisation fund but as on date not a rupee was allocated. The farmers mentioned about loan waiver and input subsidy that never reached them as promised by the AP government.
